TRAPIL’s meter calibration station was the first calibration laboratory in France to be approved by the French Accreditation Committee (COFRAC) for “liquid flow measurement – dynamic volume and mass measurement,” under the number 2-1194 (see www.cofrac.fr for scope). Leveraging our technical competencies and improvements driven by quality management systems, we have since teamed up with the French National Measurement and Testing Laboratory (LNE) to become the national benchmark for measuring the flow of liquids other than water.
The laboratory’s quality management system, based on standard NF EN ISO/IEC 17025 and specific recommendations, is regularly audited by COFRAC. COFRAC accreditation means that the accuracy of our calibration services is recognized by other countries under mutual recognition agreements between accreditation organizations.

Dynamic Volume Measurement
Calibration services are performed using two one-way pipe provers with a nominal standard volume of 2.5 to 10 cubic meters. Procedures and calculations are performed in compliance with ISO standards 4267 and 7278, as well as the main recommendations of organizations including the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), the International Organization of Legal Metrology (OIML) and the American Petroleum Institute (API).

Mass Flowrate Measurement
Mass flowrate calibration is performed using an indirect method and is not covered by the accreditation. The principle consists of volume flowrate calibration supported by sampling of the product in order to determine its specific gravity. This determination is performed by TRAPIL’s COFRAC-accredited specific gravity calibration laboratory.
This method’s applications include calibrating and adjusting flowmeters.
Final uncertainties are calculated on a case-by-case basis.
